From August 15 to 19, 2005 conference will be held on SVG.
It's about Scalable Vector Graphics, a highly versatile technology that is used to visualize lots of different things. This ranges from simple (but scalable!) images up to systems with interaction, animations and back-end system communication. Among other formats it is also combined with MathML, to visualize formulas and graphs. This cooperation will also be shown at SVG Open.
SVG and MathML are open formats, comparable with HTML. For both this means that if you don't want to see the source code you don't have to. Usually you can just keep using your favorite (mathematical, graphics, etc.) software. So basically it's ideal for exchanging and coupling with other systems (it's XML).
You can put it on websites (cause the source code is plain text you can easily search it too), you can use it for the total GUIs of programs you write and there are even already about a billion mobile phones sold that support it.
